Authority Zero Ignites a Night of Arizona Punk Nostalgia at the Marquee Theatre

On March 13, 2026, Authority Zero delivered a high-energy hometown set at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, turning the night into a full-blown celebration of Arizona’s punk scene.

Authority Zero brought a night of Arizona punk rock nostalgia to Tempe’s Marquee Theatre on Friday, March 13th 2026. The lineup included No Gimmick, Fourbanger, and—taking the stage for the first time in 20 years—Redfield. Alex Empty and his Soul Axe Sounds got the evening started with a mix of reggae and dub music. The evening was hosted by Craven Moorehead, a long-time ska punk staple on Phoenix’s radio airwaves.

Phoenix punks No Gimmick set the tone for the evening with ferocious guitars and fast, hard-hitting drums. “For the old punks in the back, pretend you’re back in 1997” said vocalist and guitarist Johnny Gimmick. Highlights of the set included “I Hate Society” and “Why Angry?” No Gimmick’s latest release “Riot Inside My Head” is available via bandcamp.com.

Fourbanger represented a shift in tone, but not in intensity. Siblings Eric and Kyle Huffaker brought high energy pop punk that focused on fun. The set featured a pop punk cover of the Metropolitan Mattress jingle commonly found on Valley airwaves in the late 90s. Staying in the 90s, the set also included 1999’s “Start Your Engines.” Other highlights included “Calling Out” and “Dead Sailor”.

The evening moved into the early 2000s as Redfield took the stage. It was a reunion nearly two decades in the making. Lead vocalist and bassist Alfie Lucero was all smiles as the band delivered a tight 30-minute set. Highlights included a cameo by Authority Zero’s Jason Devore on “Loss of Days” and a cover of Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell”.  Redfield ended the set with “Hope” from the 2005 “Hellfire Club” EP.

Around 9:30, the silhouettes of guitarist Brandon Landelius and drummer Chris Dalley took their place on stage. Moments later they were joined by vocalist Jason Devore and bassist Mike Spero. There is nothing quite like the energy of a hometown Authority Zero show. From the moment the house lights went out, there was no slowing down. The crowd joined frontman Jason Devore on the chorus to fan-favorite “A Passage In Time”, as a booming “HERE WE GO!” filled the venue. The circle pit opened up and a steady stream of crowd surfers scrambled over the sea of fans to the front barrier. For the next 75 minutes, the band tore through a 19-song set, including a 5-song encore.

Highlights included the anthemic “Revolution”, the reggae-tinged “Over Seasons” and “Ollie, Ollie Oxenfree”. The band paused briefly around the halfway point to check in with the crowd. “I know you’re still with us” said bassist Mike Spero, who was met with cheers of approval.

Chris Dalley took the opportunity to grab fresh drum sticks, sending the spent pair end-over-end into the audience. “Let’s see the biggest circle pit Arizona’s seen this year!” said Devore as the band tore into “Taking on the World”. Authority Zero brought the set to a close with “Lift One Up.”

“You guys have been fucking amazing tonight!” said Devore. A few minutes after clearing the stage, Jason Devore returned alone with an acoustic guitar. Devore performed “Authority Zero” before being joined by the rest of the band for “Mexican Radio”, “One More Minute”, and “Mesa Town”.

The evening was brought to a close with “Sky’s the Limit” sending the capacity crowd home delighted, if not exhausted. Authority Zero next heads to Belgium for the Bearded Punk Fest on May 15th, followed by an extensive tour through Europe.

Their new 5-song EP “Narcissist” is now available at bandcamp.com.
