On the evening of March 5th, I had the opportunity to attend a live concert featuring the indie rock band Flipturn at The Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ. As a fan of indie rock, I was eager to experience the band’s blend of smooth melodies and catchy rhythms in person. The atmosphere was electric, and the night turned out to be an unforgettable experience, full of passion, energy, and incredible music.
The night began with the opening act, “Krooked Kings” that helped set the mood for the main performance. The crowd slowly trickled in, and by the time Flipturn took the stage, the venue was packed. There was a sense of anticipation in the air as fans, many of whom had clearly been following the band for years, eagerly awaited the start of the show.

When Flipturn finally appeared, they opened with their song “Juno” The crowd immediately erupted in applause, and the entire venue seemed to come alive. The lead singer, Dillon Basse, captivated the audience with his unique voice and the music was an immediate reminder of why the band has garnered such a loyal following.

One thing that stood out about Flipturn was their connection with the audience. The band members often interacted with the crowd, joking around and expressing their appreciation for the support. Dillon even took a moment to thank everyone for coming out, expressing how special it was to be playing for such a fantastic group of fans. This personal touch helped create a sense of community within the venue and made the performance feel more like an intimate gathering than just a typical concert.

The setlist included a great mix of their newer tracks and older fan favorites, showcasing the band’s growth and versatility. As the show neared its end, the energy remained high, and the crowd was not ready to let go. For the encore, Flipturn performed “Nickel” a perfect closing track that left everyone wanting more.
In conclusion, Flipturn’s concert was an amazing experience that exceeded my expectations. The band delivered an incredible performance, both musically and emotionally, and their connection with the audience made the night feel special.
