After the release of his debut album The Sound Of You Laughing, Canadian singer and songwriter Carter De Filippis, better known as ThxSoMch, launched his North America tour with one of the stops being Phoenix, Arizona. On September 30, 2025, he performed at Crescent Ballroom.
I first heard of ThxSoMch a couple of years ago when his song “Spit in My Face” started trending on Instagram. At the time, I found it entertaining but never dove deeper into his catalog. This was my first time seeing him live, and I was not sure what to expect. The atmosphere, however, quickly changed that. The excitement from the people around me, the conversations I overheard, and the way fans spoke about him made my curiosity grow. One fan I spoke to shared that Phoenix was the third stop she had followed him to on this tour, while another said he had been a fan from the very beginning. That kind of dedication gave me a sense that I was about to see something truly impactful.
After opener RE6CE left the stage, anticipation filled the air. The room buzzed with energy, and as the lights went out, fans erupted into cheers. The band came out first, followed by Carter himself, who burst onto the stage with overwhelming energy. Within seconds, he had the entire crowd’s attention. He sprinted across the stage, making sure every corner of the venue felt included, jumping and feeding off the audience’s excitement. His performance was electric right from the start, leaving no doubt about why fans were so devoted to him.
The night was full of memorable moments. At one point, Carter stumbled backward, accidentally kneeing himself in the face. Instead of letting it slow him down, he turned the moment into a joke, laughing it off and proving just how comfortable he is on stage. Later, he called for a circle pit, sending the crowd into a frenzy, and even invited two younger fans up to stage dive for the first time. Those moments highlighted not only his energy but also his ability to connect with the audience and make them feel like part of the show.

By the end of the night, it was clear that ThxSoMch had delivered more than just a concert. He created an experience that fans will carry with them long after the music stopped. For many, it was a reminder of why live music is so powerful. For me, it was the first time I truly understood the buzz surrounding his name. Phoenix did not just watch ThxSoMch perform. They lived the night with him, and it is one that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
