Voodoo Glow Skulls kicked off a 9-date tour at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona on June 4th, 2026. The tour, featuring psychobilly stalwarts Nekromantix, also included support from Krovak and SACK.
Arizona-based punks Krovak opened the show. It was a stripped down set that featured aggressive guitars and hard-hitting drums. Highlights from the set included “GG’s Not Your Friend” and “PBR Song.”
Denver’s SACK kept the party going with a cooler full of beer and a setlist full of fast songs. Frontman Kody Templeman (Teenage Bottlerocket) chugged Bud Lights while performing songs like “Wet Banana” and “I Used to Give a Shit.” It was a high octane 30-minute set that deserved better from the lackluster crowd.
Voodoo Glow Skulls took the stage next as the crowd moved closer to the barrier. Jorge Casillas flipped over his bass and hoisted it in the air, revealing the words “WHO DO VOODOO WE DO” on the back. One by one, the other members of Voodoo Glow Skulls took the stage as the call and response gained momentum. As “WHO DO VOODOO WE DO” went out from the stage, “FUCK YOU!” came roaring back from the crowd.
The band was joined by vocalist Frank Casillas, wearing a black and silver Luchador mask, as the opening notes of “Shoot the Moon” filled the air. The song’s introduction reached a crescendo as the circle pit opened up in the center of the venue floor.
The set drew heavily from 1995’s hit album Firme, but also included fan favorites from the rest of their catalog. The horn section of Adam Chavira (Saxophone) and Ian Baroni (Trombone) shined on tracks “Fat Randy” and “Dog Pile.” Guitarist Eddie Casillas shredded the “Crazy Train” intro of “Insubordination,” while the crowd joined in on the “SKA! SKA! SKA!” chorus.
Halfway through the 60-minute set, Frank Casillas paused to address the crowd. “We’re going to sing some songs for you in Spanish now because Viva La Raza!” Highlights of the second half included “El Mas Chingon” and “La Migra,” the latter featuring a ska punk homage to Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.”
The evening concluded with “Voodoo Anthem,” which reprised the chant from the beginning of the set and brought things full circle.
For music fans that prefer their ska with a heavy dose of punk and metal, Voodoo Glow Skulls are highly recommended.
The tour next heads to New Mexico, with stops in Arenas Valley and Albuquerque, before heading to Texas for shows in Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi. The tour concludes in San Antonio on June 13th, 2026.
Voodoo Glow Skulls will be back on the road at the end of July 2026 for a quick four-date run with Authority Zero that includes stops in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. Tickets are available at https://www.voodooglowskullsofficial.com/events.html.
