Los Angeles singer-songwriter ggwendolyn is ready to introduce the most authentic version of herself. The artist’s debut full-length album, Superstar Syndrome, arrives this Friday, July 31, marking a defining moment after years spent writing for others and releasing music under previous projects.
Spanning eleven tracks, Superstar Syndrome blends melodic pop-rock with deeply personal songwriting, capturing themes of identity, ambition, and self-discovery. While ggwendolyn has built an impressive résumé collaborating with artists including Chappell Roan, FLETCHER, and AlunaGeorge, the new record represents a conscious shift toward creating music that feels entirely her own.
The album was written during an intensive week-long creative session with collaborator Ryan Raines, an experience that became the catalyst for what ggwendolyn describes as her most genuine work to date. Rather than relying on metaphor-heavy lyricism, the record embraces direct, unfiltered storytelling that reflects her thoughts and emotions without disguise.
That honesty carries throughout the album. Songs like “Jock My Style” showcase her playful personality, while “This So Called Life” explores feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. Elsewhere, “Tehran” draws inspiration from her Italian-Iranian heritage, blending boom-bap rhythms with the distinctive sound of a Persian santoor to create one of the record’s most unique moments.
The title track sets the tone for the project, opening with lyrics that reflect dreams of becoming something greater—an idea that ultimately shapes the album’s emotional arc. By the time the closing track, “I’m Not Leaving This Time,”arrives, those ambitions have transformed into confidence, signaling both personal and artistic growth.

To celebrate the release of Superstar Syndrome, ggwendolyn will perform an album release show at El Cid in Los Angeles on September 2.
