Julia Wolf brings the Pressure World Tour to Phoenix, Arizona

Pop-alternative, singer-songwriter, Julia Wolf made her return to Phoenix on June 2nd. The stage at Rebel Lounge was sold-out. Her first headlining show since recently having been in Phoenix opening for artist Artemas. Which left fans exhilarated and eager for more. Known for rawness, Wolf often blurs genres in creating her own style. With fearless vulnerability, Wolf has been steadily rising since her breakout during the early days of the pandemic. She began sharing self-produced tracks on TikTok and SoundCloud. Her moody aesthetic quickly caught on. Leading her to a loyal following and the release of her debut studio work.

Wolf’s sound is a blend of alt-pop, and hip-hop-influenced beats. Far from any saturated stream of music. Bathed in hues of violet and blue, Julia opened the night with “Loser.” The song is a gritty self-aware anthem. An easy intensity for the audience to bite onto. Her voice is just as silky as it is bitey. The setlist also included “FYP.” Following, was the cathartic fan-favorite “Kill You Off.”

The show celebrated the release of her brand-new album, Pressure. The newly released album dropped in late May. The album explores themes of self-doubt, societal expectations, and the relentless pursuit of perfection. Much of the lyrical content was inspired by Wolf’s own experiences navigating the music industry as an introverted woman unafraid to challenge norms. “Jennifer’s Body,” took center stage during the performance. Inspired by the cult-favorite 2009 film. The song draws parallels between the misunderstood power of its protagonist and Julia’s own journey.

A fan presented Julia with a hand-sewn, personalized zip-up hoodie. Lined with embroidered pearls and a Twilight-themed print on the back. A nod to the nostalgic pop-culture influences that shaped Pressure. She closed the sold-out night with “In My Room.” A hauntingly hopeful ballad that defines her music.
