Global pop icon Lily Allen has officially announced her long-awaited fifth studio album, West End Girl, arriving October 24 via BMG. The record marks Allen’s first release in seven years and features 14 brand-new tracks, written and recorded over an intense 10-day creative period in Los Angeles in late 2024, before being completed in London and New York.
All of the songs were written by Lily Allen, primarily in collaboration with her longtime musical director Blue May. The album’s executive producers include Allen, Seb Chew, Kito, and Blue May, with cover art and illustrations crafted by acclaimed Spanish artist Nieves González.

With West End Girl, Allen reclaims the spotlight and opens a new chapter in her celebrated career. The album draws inspiration from her recent move to New York City, exploring themes of identity, reinvention, and emotional complexity through a blend of fact and fiction. Allen describes the record as “vulnerable in a way that my music perhaps hasn’t been before,” offering a deeply personal reflection on life transitions, relationships, and self-discovery.
“I’ve tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am now,” Allen explains. “At the same time, I’ve used shared experiences as the basis for songs that explore why we humans behave as we do. It’s a mixture of fact and fiction, and I hope it serves as a reminder of how stoic yet fragile we can be.”
Since her groundbreaking 2006 debut Alright, Still and its sharp-witted successor It’s Not Me, It’s You, Allen has been a defining voice in modern pop—selling over five million albums worldwide and influencing a generation of artists with her fearless honesty. Her Mercury Prize–nominated 2018 record No Shame and memoir My Thoughts Exactly further established her as one of music’s most candid and uncompromising storytellers.
During her hiatus from music, Allen took her talents to the stage, earning critical acclaim for her performances in 2:22 A Ghost Story, The Pillowman, and Hedda Gabler. She also co-hosts the award-winning podcast Miss Me alongside longtime friend Miquita Oliver.
Allen’s cultural impact continues to resonate deeply. Artists like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and PinkPantheress have all credited her as a major influence for her unapologetic voice and authenticity.
Now, West End Girl promises to be Lily Allen’s most emotionally expansive and self-aware work to date—a record that bridges sharp storytelling with vulnerability and melodic brilliance.
