Moses Sumney and Paramore’s Hayley Williams have joined forces for the first time on their electrifying new single, “I Like It I Like It.” The track highlights Sumney’s rich lower register and his signature ability to harmonize seamlessly with his collaborators. Williams brings a sultry edge to the second verse and drives the song’s emotional climax with her evocative delivery.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Sumney shared:
“Hayley Williams and Paramore underscored a large part of my anxious youth, so when I was writing this song about having an angsty crush on someone, I knew there would be no better person to sing it with than the queen of yearning. I’m glad we get to get soulful together.”
Written by Sumney and co-produced with Quickly Quickly and Rob Bisel (known for SZA’s “Kill Bill”), “I Like It I Like It” marks Sumney’s second release of 2025, following February’s “Hey Girl(s),” which featured celebrated artists Syd and Meshell Ndegeocello. In a cover story for Lampoon Magazine, Sumney named Ndegeocello as one of his key musical influences.

The new single arrives on the heels of Sumney’s Sophcore EP, released last August—his first collection of original material since his acclaimed 2020 double album græ. The EP, which includes standout tracks “Vintage” and “Gold Coast,” earned spots on year-end best-of lists from NPR, Paste Magazine, and Pitchfork, further cementing Sumney’s evolution into a genre-blurring R&B force.
Hayley Williams’s last solo project, 2021’s FLOWERS for VASES, saw her writing, producing, and performing every element herself. She returned with Paramore for 2023’s This Is Why, which earned the band their first Grammy wins—including Best Rock Album—making them the first female-fronted band to take home that honor.
The release of “I Like It I Like It” also follows the announcement of Sumney as the face of Rabanne’s new Million Gold fragrance and precedes his theatrical debut this summer. He’s set to star in the Public Theater’s upcoming production of Twelfth Night in Central Park, running August 7 through September 14. Directed by Tony Award nominee Saheem Ali, the production features an all-star cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Sandra Oh, Peter Dinklage, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
